ABOUT ME
I was active in high school sports, became an NCAA Division 1 tennis player in college, and now compete as an Ironman triathlete. I also have coached tennis and swimming for many years. My four children (two daughters and two sons) all have experience competing in high level sports. My eldest daughter swam DI and now competes as an elite age group triathlete. My other daughter played four years of varsity high school soccer in addition to playing for one of the top travel teams in the area and is now super into strength training. My two sons both currently play DI college hockey. Needless to say, competitive athletics in a big part of my life and I absolutely love it.
Back when I was playing tennis, I was THAT athlete who everyone talked about. Not because of everything that I had accomplished, but everything that I hadn’t accomplished. I had lots of talent. I out trained my competitors. When I wasn’t at school or doing homework, I was at the tennis court working towards my dream of becoming a D1 athlete. Even when I started playing tennis for UNC-Chapel Hill people were still saying how much better I could be. Guess what held me back? Me! My mental toughness!
I had heard of mental training, but never really bought into it or was willing to work on it as an athlete myself. That was until I started coaching and raising kids who loved sports and I realized how important the mental side of training really is. I’ve personally seen how the right mental training can take an individual to the next level of their sport and give them an edge over their competition.
Due to my personal experiences as an athlete and the mental challenges I have watched both my kids and my athletes face, I decided to become a certified Positive Performance™ Mental Training Coach and launch Transcend Mental Training. The purpose of my life is to be caring, passionate, and authentic and to be relentless in my drive to help others become their best possible versions of themselves in life and in their sport. I strongly believe that through mental training, I can help others become that best version.
